Janellkay Brigham, Ph.D. has been teaching ASL in Texas for over 30 years in public school, online and at the university level.  She earned degrees in Deaf Education, Habilitation and Adult Education.  Dr. Brigham has received numerous awards in teaching and service to the Deaf community. 

 

Her academic interests include research on topics related to ASL and Deaf Education.  She proudly joined a team of writers to rewrite the current TEKS for ASL.  Two of her latest endeavors are leading a Deaf choir, and joining the Texas Deaf Grassroots Movement committee to fight for Deaf civil rights. 

 

Her goal is to emphasize the importance of language acquisition for deaf children focusing on global proactive parental knowledge of deafness rather than reactive.  

 

In any free time, she loves the outdoors, being near the water and spending time with family.
